This painting shows an extensive tract of Spinifex country centred around Lingka. This is where Simon was born and recently (in 2017) returned to this place in a helicopter as there are no roads in, on a back to country trip organised by the Spinifex land management. Simon has an extensive knowledge of this country and the stories held within it. All the rock holes, soaks and vegetation shown in his works hold elements of Spinifex stories that pass through the country. These are Wanari, Mulga trees taking water from deep within the rock hole.
