Tjaruwa is always experimental with her artwork and this painting is no exception.

This painting is set in her country amongst the rockholes of Kamanti and Pur Pur and the iwara (raods) or pathways in between.

Tjaruwa wants to say that in the old days people relied on natural objects which they turned into useful tools such as the stone knife. Tjaruwa says that stone knives where all that they had in the early days or time before contact and this was essential for survival.

Special provisions apply to this artwork. Reproductions of the artwork and its story in part or in whole in any form require the permission of the artist. We are only too happy to be of assistance in this matter.
