Tjungu Palya

Since its inception in 2006 Tjungu Palya has developed into one of the most dynamic and innovative art centres of the Western APY Lands.
The artist cooperative is located about 100 km south of Uluru (Ayers Rock) in Nyapari at the foot of the Mann Ranges in an area which has always belonged to the Pitjantjatjara people.

Tjungu Palya means 'together good' and serves artists in the small Aboriginal communities of Nyapari, Kanpi and Watarru (about 180 km further to the south).

Collaborative works play an important role here. One of them belongs to the collection of Alison and Peter W. Klein (KUNSTWERK).

In Germany the most popular artists from Tjungu Palya are Tiger Palpatja (deceased), Keith Stevens and Ginger Wikilyiri, both of whom in 2011 personally presented their work at ARTKELCH, followed by Maringka, Kay and Teresa Baker as well as Angkaliya Curtis.
